Projects

Please see my RESUME section for my most recent projects.

My MS degree project involved the development of an Android app to measure and improve adherence of teenage asthmatics to asthma medication regimens, through persuasive visualization, for a clinical study conducted in collaboration with members of the Department of Preventive Medicine at Rush University Medical Center. The app transmits data, via Bluetooth, to and from electronics attached to each participant’s inhaler, and to and from a server via TCP/IP, and displays animation of a participant-customizable character on screen each time the inhaler is used. This project was also my degree project. The report for it is here: Asthma App MS project report.

On and off for a while now I’ve been working on an app that downloads and plays audio from a couple of different NPR programs. I’m a big fan of NPR, and listen to it most days, but sometimes I can’t listen to the shows when they’re aired, and two of my favorites shows don’t have podcasts, though audio from each show’s stories is available on the web. My app downloads the audio of stories of either show for playback at any time. The source code is available on GitHub: NPRDroid.
